Good place for some brewskis with the boys or if you're single and ready to mingle. It is adjacent to the pub room, but not as noisy. First time at Jake's last night for dinner and a few drinks. High ceilings, original brick walls, granite bar, and soft lighting allow for a warm and comfortable atmosphere. For example, I was here on a double date a few months ago. I guess service to each individual customer is not a priority here. On the lower-level, dance to music from a dj or live entertainment in the patio area.
Stick with a flatbread or the nachos and you'll be fine. We started out ordering drinks which were ok and ordered burgers. A cool, mysterious bar in the front and a more open, live-music venue in the back with a bigger space to hang out. Craft beers in the front for the hop-head, Then go to the back and dance til' you drop dead. We waited over a hour to get our food.
We eat out all the time and this was absolutely the worst place we've ever been. Plenty of parking on the street for a Thursday night. I've been to Jake's twice now. They have a good selection of beers on tap, and the bartender was really friendly. And every time I bring someone with me they end up loving it as well. They have an amazing beer selection.
We ordered 3 pints of Guinness, and while the bartender was pouring them, my friend grabbed a few potato chips out of the big basket sitting in the middle of the bar. The decor is the best thing about this place, definitely has a unique atmosphere about it, it's unlike any of the other bars in the area. This place has so much to offer. All in all Jake's is a decent spot in downtown Wallingford within walking distance to several other bars, i will return but probably only for a quick stop on a night out. Apps are amazing so love going there for Happy Hour.
A bar in the front and a bar in the back where the band is set up. They got two bathrooms one on the bottom floor and one on the 2nd floor. Jakes is an interesting place to go. The space is roomier than you may intially think from the outside. Large windows overlook Center Street. This was the last stop of a bar crawl for my friend's 21st birthday.
The bar has an incredible beer list with some of the more rare Trappist Belgian ales always stocked. There's a lot to look at and the bar tenders are usually pretty friendly, but busy. The rotating specials and high end cuts of meat have always been perfectly cooked. After a few pops, head to the back, where there is usually a live band on weekends and people dancing. Thanks for visiting our website. Soft lights, high ceilings and seating provide an atmosphere for conversation, while enjoying one of our delicious menu items and drinks, or just a cheese plate and bottle of wine.
They have a good selection of craft and micro brews on tap as well as domestic beer in bottles, expensive though. Order 2 drinks 1 water and a food menu. The price of drinks are high, but they offer some high quality stuff you wont find elsewhere. The bathroom situation was the weirdest thing about this place, the downstairs area has 2 large bars, a dance area and a dining room and only 1, single person bathroom for the entire floor, always a long line and not very clean. This place is just ok. Hopefully my previous time here was a 1-off.
Bartenders are friendly and offer advice if you tell them what type of beer you are looking for. I can definetly see myself heading to Jake's the next time I'm in the area. The casual front room serves as a lounge and a casual dining room. Always a fun time, bring all your friends, You will never want your great night to end. We questioned him, unsure if he was inflating the price because we upset him. I had the joy of exploring it the week after Christmas. The pub is located at the front of the building.
