It was truly a wonderful dining experience and we are looking forward to returning for my husbands birthday next month! Welcome to Baton Rouge, Roux 61. Went on a Saturday night for a birthday and was told you couldn't make reservations and when we got there it was an hour and a half wait.
They also have a well stocked bar, with a separate area for patrons to have drinks. Anyway, at the table when co-workers arrived I ordered Alligator tail and the crawfish. Lamb Shank Plate — Tender, juicy lamb shank over rice pilaf, topped with sautéed pine nuts and served with Hummos. If you suffer from chronic illness of the liver, stomach or blood or have other immune disorders, you should eat these products fully cooked. Our server was excellent as well. Rated At 7pm the parking lot at Roux 61 was already full. My steak was cooked to perfections and the side items were filling.
They took our name and told us the wait was about 10-20 minutes. They have good food and drinks and a couple of nice waitresses. Many visitors underline that the staff is knowledgeable at La Contea. Patrons will also find some friendly ducks and geese. The chairs actually have tears and rips in them,the place in general is very worn looking!. You are to find nicely cooked spaghetti, trout and calamari. I had 2 blueberry lemon drop martinis, the 20 oz bone in ribeye and the scalloped potatoes with cheese.
Have dined here many times and never dissapointed. Our food order took literally 5 minutes. We then decided to share dessert and ordered the brownie with ice cream. Maybe when they've been open for longer the wait will drop! People were leaning against the top floor railing, listening to the music.
I wonder if they just prepare appetizers in advance? Roux 61 was good food, good service, and great atmosphere. Fabulous service is something guests appreciate here. The chicken tenders were too breaded not much chicken and the dip was very watery. The staff was extremely friendly, and the service was exceptional and prompt.
Menu was limited and we were told to look at the menu for the specials. This pizzeria provides good tiramisu, lemon pie and cannolis. Probably my favorite steak house in this price range. Gyros Plate — A lean blend of ground beef and lamb broiled vertically cut into thin slices, served with Hummos and rice. The flavor was on the sweet side and I enjoyed their version. A serving of cole slaw arrived and the ingredients were fresh and crisp, and perfect size to start a meal. As someone previously mentioned, there are plenty of restaurants in the area that are worth trying.
Broiled Fish Tilapia — Topped with sautéed mushrooms, and garlic in lemon butter sauce. He was very friendly and asked what was wrong. There is a fountain in the water and tons of turtles. I was delighted to hear they were coming to Baton Rouge, so there is no longer a need to visit Natchez sorry, Natchez. The steaks are done perfectly, and delivered promptly.
Rated Food is excellent, but be prepared to wait. But the crab was cooked tender and with a lot of cocktail sauce, it was edible. They were still seating people at 9:30+ when we left and they are only open till ten. We insisted we were fine, but then my husband asked to send back his irish coffee. Very few women at the bar. Warm and perfect for the two of us. Later found out he was the last waiter and had 6 tables.
When the group seated next to us was leaving to sit at their table in the dining room, I overheard the bartender insisting she could give the waitress their bar tab so that they could pay everything at one time. There is a wonderful veranda with an area for feeding the birds and turtles, a must stop before leaving. The location is not super convenient for me but it's certainly more convenient than Natchez. Our bar is always open and our wine manager has curated a wide selection of locally selected wines, hand-crafted cocktails and spirits. Shrimp Shish Kabob — Shrimp broiled in butter and garlic sauce. To top it off, there was a man who approached our table only to scream over us to the girl on the other side of our table. Our evening ended with a box of homemade chocolate truffles to bring home.

Our waiter was a little rushed at first, but we were adamant about not getting through dinner fast and we got him to breathe and calm down. Shawarma and Gyros All plates served with Feta Cheese salad and Pita bread Chicken Shawarma Plate — Fresh boneless chicken marinatedin garlic, olive oil and Lebanese spices, cut into thin slices, served with hummos and rice. And they are expecting to be fed, so I suggest you ask for an extra piece of French bread from your server. The steaks were cooked correctly and the Cajun boiled potatoes had just the right amount of spice. All I could taste was grenadine and 7-up? They set the celebratory mood by having the table decorated with confetti and a birthday card when we were seated. What more do you want? Fleming's was a great place to take my girlfriend out for her birthday.
