This is getting very frustrating, expecially since everyone else seems to just plug and play.
Everything on the Vessel View seems to work like it is supposed to using a gateway instead of Vessel View Link. I decided to check it out and my smartcraft gateway is working with the Vessel View software. When I installed the Link, I could no longer access the engine through Vesselview mobile, but I have not yet disconnected the mobile module. Lowrance says it is from Mercury and Mercury says it is part of the 4. Like checking voltages on pins. I'm in a similar position with an older boat 2005 and was wondering if the VesselView Link module was worth it over just using the gateway. Looking to add this as well. The quick-access menu bar on the left hand side of the screen for example is not available yet. There is a software update for the VesselView Link but nobody at Lowrance or Mercury could tell me how to download it. I put the order in and within 10 minutes had a phone call saying they were out and needed to order more through Mercury and they would have it out.
Walked me through a couple steps and even called me to go through a couple issues that were to confusing via email. If you don't have smartcraft, you need to add the Smartcraft Harness which runs from the outboard to the dash area. Ok, I have a 2011 Mercury Opti 250 Proxs. They were awesome and in particular a guy named Arnie was great. So i got everything in the mail today. My assumption is that Mercury hasn't updated their website with the VesselView Link so there is no place for them to post the update for users to download.

I spent a lot of time trying to figure out the part numbers and what was included in the kit - not much info is out there yet. I've used it all summer and it's awesome!! I ordered everything from Performance Pro Tech online. It seems like its just dead, but brand new in the box? They said it would be at my door before then.
